Delete Your Account — Acid

This page explains how to delete your Acid account and what happens to your data when you do.

Option 1: Delete from within the app

1. Open the Acid app and sign in
2. Tap the Profile tab
3. Tap the settings icon in the top right
4. Tap Delete account
5. Review the confirmation and tap Continue
6. Enter your password and tap Delete my account

Your account and personal data are deleted immediately.

Option 2: Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, email us at [email protected] from the email address associated with your Acid account. Include:

• Your username on Acid
• A statement requesting account deletion

We will process your request within 7 days and confirm once deletion is complete.

What data is deleted

When your account is deleted, the following personal information is permanently removed within 30 days:

• Your email address
• Your year of birth
• Your username, display name, avatar, bio, and pronouns
• Your direct messages (both sent and received copies in your account)
• Your push notification tokens
• Your private drafts and settings

What data is retained (and why)

• Public posts, comments, and community content: your content is disassociated from your identity and may remain visible as "deleted user" to preserve conversation history for other community members.
• Encrypted backups: data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days after deletion, after which it is permanently removed.
• Safety records: if your account was banned for serious policy violations (such as CSAM-related incidents reported to NCMEC), a minimal record may be retained for legal compliance and safety purposes. This record does not include personal content.
